It came down to this and the Kaiser plus. I had ridden the Kaiser and knew that is was very smooth and quiet. the reason I chose the Schwinn was because of the great set of handlebars and the heavier flywheel. It is built like a tank! With the carbon blue belt drive it is almost as quiet as the Kaiser. My only gripe with the schwinn is that it doesn't have a freewheeling hub. When transitioning from sitting to standing or the other way around it is a little awkward. Plus, it would feel much more like my road bike if it could freewheel after doing an interval of high effort. I have since read about the cycle-ops bike that has an even heavier flywheel and a freewheel hub so coasting for a moment is possible. However, in my case, the box was not only damaged, it was destroyed. The UPS driver was doing all he could to hold the thing together long enough to toss it in our front door and not have the contents of the box spill all over. It made it but was a real cause for concern. Everything else was fine. Product as described. Dead simple to assemble. Word of caution: if you are not 100% comfortable with assembling something like this you may want to seek out a retailer that ships the item assembled and tested or have someone who you trust provide such service. When I completed assembly and ran it through its paces I learned that the flywheel was woefully off center -- it was making a nasty scraping sound. Made some adjustments on the front flywheel tension bolts, one of which was VERY loose, and had everything lined up... I'm a basic spin biker. Primary use is hear my TV or read while burning calories in the comfort of my living room.Quieter than chains but not as silent as cheaper belt bikes. Carbon Blue has teeth on it's belt and that produces the swooshing noise, however, it's without the metal clanking. It's similar to the new generation dishwashers where the noise is tolerable and does not cause issues with hearing the TV. Also, it's quiet enough for the neighbors in apartments. I tested the cheaper belt bikes (without teeth) and those were dead silent which was great. It is like riding a bike in outer space where you hear nothing....think of the movie Gravity. The issue I had with those is it didn't feel like a road bike where it lacked the feeling of grabbing gears. However, if you are on a tight budget, the cheaper belt bikes should be a great decision.
